Lucknow— The Wazirganj Police Station team under Lucknow Police Commissionerate arrested two wanted criminals involved in multiple loot and robbery cases under the Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in curbing organized crime activities in the city.
Case Details:
On October 3, 2025, a case (Crime No. 262/2025) was registered under relevant sections of the Gangster Act against Rajeev Srivastava and his associates for forming a gang and committing loot and robbery in different areas of Lucknow. The accused were found to be involved in more than half a dozen cases across various police stations.
Following a secret tip-off, a special police team was formed to trace and arrest the absconding accused. Based on the input, two of the gang’s active members were successfully apprehended.
Arrested Individuals:
Jitendra Kumar Awasthi (25) — Son of late Ramesh Chandra Awasthi, resident of Plot No. 63, Preeti Talli, near Trikal Kshetra, Madiyaon, Lucknow, originally from Ahiriya village, Hariya Police Station, Sitapur district.
Arrested: October 5, 2025, around 8:45 PM near Kartik Park, Wazirganj, Lucknow.
Shyamu Shukla (34) — Son of Ramsagar Shukla, resident of Malika Sarai, Chowk, Lucknow, permanent address Rajitpur Sunhera village, Mohammadpur Khala Police Station, Barabanki district.

Arrested: October 6, 2025, at around 8:50 AM.
Both accused were actively engaged in criminal and gang-related operations under the leadership of Rajeev Srivastava, the gang leader, and were found involved in illegal financial and violent activities for personal and material gain.

- Case No. 131/2023: Under Sections 394, 411, and 120B of the IPC, Wazirganj Police Station, Lucknow.
- Case No. 262/2025: Under Sections 2(B)(1)(1)(3)(1) of the Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986, Wazirganj Police Station, Lucknow.
